Mt great grandfather, Thomas (d. 1895) married Bridget Henry about 1850/51. Their children were Brigid (Beezy, married John Gilmore of Dunowla, Templeboy, b. about 1852), Patrick Henry (b. about 1856, married Catherine Conlin in 1898), Thomas (next paragraph), Nora (b. about 1862), and Maurice (b. about 1865). Maurice emigrated to the US.

My grandfather, Thomas (Red Tom, b. 1858/59 near Collooney, Co. Sligo, d. Jan 15, 1937) married Catherine (Kate) Gallagher (b. 1872, d. Mar. 1946) about 1894. Red Tom, Kate and Harry (below) are buried at Church Hill Cemetery near Dromore West, Co. Sligo.

My father, Thomas Francis Conry (b. 1899), emigrated from Ireland in 1930’s to New York. Conry family is from County Sligo. His siblings are Patrick (b. 1896), Bridget (Sissy, b. 1898, married Durkin, 5 daughters, d. in Dublin Nov. 16, 1950), Michael J. (b. 1901), Henry (Harry, b. 1905, d. Jul 22, 1945), John Ernest (Ernie, b. 1907, d. Sep 4, 1969, married to Lena). Thomas lost touch with Michael, who also emigrated to NY, about 1941.

Note that some Conrys have the surname of “Conroy”. If a visitor to this site can explain how or why this occurred, please email me.

Note also that there is a “Thomas Conry” in five generations since my brother and son are also named Thomas.

This site has attracted some visitors and emigration tidbits:

Dan Conry came to the US in 1850s from Cork, escaping the Hunger along with a sister. He moved from New York to Tennessee’s Pelham Valley building railroads and bridges. So says his great-great-great-grandson. (1 June, 2000)

Christophe Conry from the French west coast said hello. (26 May, 2001)

Sean Conry wrote from Johannesburg and had been convinced the Conry clan was really small and isolated to his continent. He is the son of Eric, whose sister Crystal relocated to the US. (30 Jan, 2003)

Tim Conry from Massachusetts started an accounting business and found us while researching website names. Family comes from Mayo, parish of Knock. (21 Jan, 2005)

Declan Conry from Australia wrote in Nov. 2009 that he is a second cousin and provided much of the information above. His grandfather was Patrick Henry Conry (in the first paragraph).

If you are a Conry and wish to say hello, please send an email. Providing ancestry emigration information is most appreciated.
